Alex Collins

Alex started learning the violin at the age of 8 locally in Bedford and at 14 continued studies at Bedford School with a music scholarship, during which time he won a number of regional competitions. This year, Alex completed his undergraduate studies at the Royal College of Music under Ani Schnarch and has just been awarded a place there for his Masters degree. Alex has worked with conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski, and Thomas Zehetmair and receives regular coaching by members of the Chillingirian Quartet. Enjoying a wide variety of musical activities, Alex is often involved in orchestral playing and makes concerto appearances, most recently with the Bedford Sinfonia.

Some of his highlights over the last few years have been performances at the Royal Albert Hall, and solo performances at Birmingham Symphony Hall.

Alex intends to focus on solo ambitions this coming year, with recitals in London and Bedford. Alex also plans to do further studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Alex played the Harrison-Frank Family Foundation’s W.E. Hill & Sons violin in 2019 – 2021.
