David Shaw

David Shaw

David Shaw was born in North Wales, but now resides in London. They are exploring a variety of different art forms, in musical and in visual. David is working on their own music (under the creative name, Hydravox), where the voice is treated as a portal to express their inner child, as well as to embody feminine and masculine energies.

The violin/viola has played a huge part in David’s life, and is a way in which we can listen to the vibrations of ancient trees, how wonderful! David studied the violin with Macjiec Rakowski, before learning with So Ock Kim at the Royal Academy of Music. Since then, they have been mentored by Sophia Rahman, focusing on a vast and diverse array of creative practices.

David is also the creator of the art project ‘Folklore Vision’. Folklore Vision highlights the fluid mysticism of nature’s organic forms, which run parallel to human existence, through photography which aims to access other realms within nature.  David’s creative projects can be found on www.hydravox.net.

David plays on a violin by Leopold Widhalm (c1772) on loan from the Harrison-Frank Family Foundation.
