Leora Cohen

Leora Cohen holds the Robert McFadzean Whyte Award as a postgraduate violinist, studying with Alexander Gilman, at the Royal College of Music.In 2020 Leora graduated as a scholar and prize-holder from Cambridge University with a first-class degree in music.
 
 Leora has played solo across the UK, on radio, in the USA, Italy, and Romania. She made her debut in 2016 playing Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole at St John’s Smith Square and since has performed with many ensembles in London and Cambridge. In 2020 she performed Beethoven’s Violin Concerto at West Road Concert Hall and competed as a finalist for the Sir Karl Jenkins Music Award. She has recently joined LGT Young Soloists.
 
Leora has played chamber music in masterclasses, on BBC Radio 3, at Kings Place and at the Wigmore Hall. She is also a prominent concertmaster. She led all RCM JD orchestras, the NYO, the Cambridge University Orchestra and currently leads many RCM projects. These include collaborations with John Wilson, Sir Mark Elder, Sir Antionio Pappano, Jac van Steen and Thomas Adés at the BBC Proms. She also had experience with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra, ENB, OAE and COE.
 
Leora plays a c.1720 Turin school violin kindly on loan from the Harrison-Frank Family Foundation. She has been supported by Help Musicians UK and the Stephen Bell Trust.
