Annabel Kidd

Annabel Kidd is a Sussex born violinist based in Glasgow and a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS).

She was awarded a scholarship to study under Gina McCormack, Greg Lawson and Andrea Gajic and graduated from the BMus Hons Course with a First-Class Degree in September 2020, receiving the Mary D Adams Prize for Chamber Music.

Annabel undertook an MA in Chamber Music at the RCS under Donald Grant. She graduated in October 2021. She was a grateful recipient of the Universal Music UK Sound Foundation Scholarship for her MA studies, and, in 2022, a grant from Help Musician’s Development Fund to support her musical development.

Annabel is passionate about chamber music. She formed the Resol String Quartet (RSQ) in 2018. In 2021 the RSQ won first prize and the audience prize at the CAVATINA competition in Wigmore Hall. Since then, the RSQ have toured extensively, bringing music to life in diverse venues spanning the Scottish Islands to the South-east and far South-west of the UK. In recent years the quartet were named as Chamber Music Scotland’s ‘One’s to watch’ and as Britten-Pears Young Artists. In 2025 the RSQ opened and performed at the St Magnus International Festival and will attend a week-long residency at Drimnin Estate with the Maxwell Quartet. The Quartet has had three pieces especially commissioned for it.

Annabel has performed with Manchester Camerata on a freelance basis, joining them on tour. Whilst studying she Co-Led Amicus Orchestra and the RCS Chamber Orchestra. Annabel has also participated in schemes and side-by-side events with the Scottish Ensemble, RSNO and Scottish Opera. She has performed alongside many well-known pop artists such as Twin Atlantic and Brit Award winning artist Tom Walker.

Annabel is also in demand as a violin teacher. She teaches for Sistema Scotland at Big Noise Govanhill, and has a full studio of private pupils across a diverse age range. With the RSQ she has worked collaboratively with many schools, delivering masterclasses, workshops and coaching across the United Kingdom.

Annabel is honoured to play on a Francesco Maurizi violin from 1860, Appignano, which is very kindly on loan to her from the Harrison-Frank Family Foundation.
