Clarissa is a dedicated educator and violinist with a personal mission to inspire healthier string playing and improve mindsets on music performance to have more focus on wellbeing.
Her musical journey spans across the United Kingdom and her home country of Singapore, where she has had a fulfilling career both teaching and performing with various orchestras and ensembles. Her interest in violin pedagogy and injury prevention led her move to Glasgow where she earned a Masters in Performance & Pedagogy at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, kindly supported by HelpMusicians. She is an alumnus of the Royal Academy of London and the Wells Cathedral School.
Clarissa particularly enjoys chamber music and is currently a principal player of the Mackintosh Ensemble and the 2nd Violinist of the Braeside Quartet. She is exploring violin-piano repertoire with a focus on female and lesser-known composers and was also previously part of The Tee Piano Trio.
Clarissa now lives in Glasgow where she wholly enjoys her busy weeks working with Sistema Scotland while freelancing and planning upcoming ensemble projects. As part of her mission to promote injury prevention and wellbeing in musicians, she is working towards a PhD where these issues are tackled within instrumental teaching and pedagogy.
Clarissa plays a modern W.E. Hill & Sons Violin on generous loan by the Harrison-Frank Family Foundation.
