Marie Schreer is currently sub-principal second violin of the Royal Northern Sinfonia. With the chamber orchestra as well as with her own groups, Marie pursues her passion for chamber music. She is a founding member of Mainly Two (violin duo), The Guastalla Quartet (string quartet) and Ensemble Nova Luce (mixed septet), and works regularly with contemporary music groups Rarescale and the Riot Ensemble. As an orchestral musician, Marie is much in demand with Britain’s leading orchestras, both in sub-principal and principal positions. Beside her classical work, Marie collaborates with non-classical musicians and has featured on nearly twenty EPs and LPs including her own groups’ releases. She has also worked closely with over thirty composers. Over the past few years, Marie has shared a stage with various artists including Jonny Greenwood, Stewart Copeland, Rick Wakeman, Sir Simon Rattle and Bernard Haitink.
Marie studied violin, viola, and classical improvisation in London (Royal College of Music & Guildhall School of Music and Drama) and finished both her Bachelor and Master degrees with distinctions.
