Sophia Prodanova

Bulgarian violinist Sophia Prodanova is equally at home performing as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral leader, and improviser.

She is increasingly in demand for principal positions with leading ensembles in the UK and Europe including Ensemble Pygmalion, Arcangelo, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, The English Concert, I Gemelli, Ensemble Masques, Vache Baroque, Benedetti Baroque Orchestra.

Recently, Sophia gave the Bulgarian premiere performance of Andrzej Panufnik’s Violin Concerto together with Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra in Bulgaria.

Sophia studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and graduated with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London where she studied with David Takeno. She studied baroque violin with Pavlo Beznosiuk and improvisation with David Dolan.

Sophia was awarded Third Prize at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig (2022). She is a Jumpstart Jr Foundation artist and plays on a 1596 Brothers Amati violin from their Sparrey Collection. She also has a modern W.E. Hill & Sons violin on loan from the Harrison-Frank Family Foundation.
